Rangers might’ve taken a change of approach this transfer window, but there have been some successful strategies from the last few seasons.
Whilst the club are now targeting young, talented players from emerging markets who have potentially high ceilings, Rangers have used the English loan market extensively in recent seasons.
Liverpool winger Ryan Kent initially joined the club on loan before signing a £7m permanent deal.
Granted, the Ibrox club’s stuttering player trading model allowed the attacker to leave for nothing four years later.
Rangers also remain in discussions over the return of Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima, who certainly appears eager to take the Flying Scotsman back north.
Fabio Silva – who struggled to make his mark after a short term switch from Wolves in January – is another high profile Premier League loan example.
Now, there could be another loan Ranger waiting in the wings down south as Liverpool prepare to offer one breakthrough teenage talent a new contract.

Rangers linked to Bobby Clark
Liverpool star Bobby Clark made his Anfield breakthrough last season and it’s reportedly turning heads across Europe.
As a result leading Anfield insider Dave Ockop is claiming Liverpool are looking to secure the future of the ex-Newcastle United talent, who is still only 19, on a longer contract.
But after making 12 appearances for the Premier League giants last season, the suggestion is that Clark will be heading out on loan next season.
As a result, Rangers have reportedly ‘thrown their hat into the ring’.
It’s claimed that Bobby Clark is a wanted man ahead of 24/25 with Rangers one of five clubs quoted as being interested.
Red Bull duo RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg are watching the situation closely, with Championship duo Derby County and Norwich City also mentioned.
It’s claimed that currently Salzburg ‘have the edge’ because of Dutch manager Pep Lijnders.
The 41-year-old worked as an assistant to Jurgen Klopp at Anfield for six years before moving to Austria in May and will know Clark personally.
Gers explore Premier League loan market?
The links to Bobby Clark will turn a few heads at Rangers with the Gers certainly a tad short in the midfield department.
With Ryan Jack and John Lundstram leaving the club this summer, Rangers remain in discussions with experienced Norwich campaigner Kenny McLean to fill the void.
But with Rangers really only having Mohamed Diomande, Nicolas Raskin, and Connor Barron as naturals in the central midfield position as things stand, it’s an area where transfer investment is expected.
Given Bobby Clark’s age Rangers fans might be thinking twice about adding another youngster to the squad.
Especially considering it would result in the Gers developing one of Liverpool’s teenage talents and not one of their own, such as Bailey Rice.
With Salzburg leading the pack, perhaps this is a more suitable option for all parties but until such a time we’ll keep a close eye on developments with Clark at Liverpool.
Whatever the case, Rangers reportedly expressing an interest suggests the club continue to look at the Premier League loan market and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it utilised in this window.
Whether that’s with Bobby Clark or someone else, we’ll have to wait and see.
