Rangers fired £21m Fabio Silva warning in pursuit of highly-rated international attacker

Rangers might not have always gotten it right in the transfer market in recent seasons, but the loan market has been hugely beneficial.

Whilst there are major questions over several high-cost stars in the Rangers squad, the club’s short-term signings have generally been an albeit tempered success.

Abdallah Sima and Malik Tillman are stand out examples, both players shining at Rangers before the Ibrox side tried and failed to secure their signatures permanently.

In Fabio Silva, things didn’t go right for the Wolves loanee last season as injuries took hold at Ibrox and forced the Portuguese striker out wide.

But as the former Porto hitman is given an astonishing valuation, Rangers are reminded to avoid a repeat of the situation with the club’s current loan hero.

Ex-Rangers loanee Fabio Silva given whopping transfer valuation

Fabio Silva has spent the season on loan with La Liga outfit Las Palmas and has impressed leading the line in Spain.

The 22-year-old has netted 10 goals for the relegation threatened side, who have five games remaining to retain their Spanish top flight status.

But no matter what happens this season, there is already plenty of chatter around Silva ahead of the next campaign with reports citing interest across Europe.

Local outlet La Provincia claims that Silva is a wanted man around Europe, with Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart all keeping tabs.

But Wolves will not let the Portuguese international leave on the cheap, with the Molineux outfit reportedly demanding £21m to sign the hitman this summer.

Rangers fired Vaclav Cerny transfer warning

Rangers fans will be watching on with interest given Silva publicly admitted he was open to staying at Rangers during his loan stint at Ibrox.

The same can be said of fellow Rangers loanee Vaclav Cerny, who has been far and away the club’s most effective attacking player this season.

Cerny, 27, is on loan from Bundesliga club VfB Wolfsburg with the player’s agent raising major doubts about Rangers’ financial capabilities to make the deal permanent.

But with US investment promising a cash injection into Rangers, the Ibrox side are hopeful of putting together a suitable financial package.

The situation with Fabio Silva is a warning to Rangers, in a similar vein to Abdallah Sima and Malik Tillman.

If the club cannot strike a deal for these players during their time at Ibrox, then it’s likely they’ll be priced out of the action when the player moves on.

With Vaclav Cerny, it’s now or never.
