Rangers have been busy shipping out several high-earners in their squad as they look to trim the fat and hand youth a chance at Ibrox.
For too long the Rangers squad has been propped up by high-earners who are not contributing enough and standing in the way of the brightest Auchenhowie talent taking the next steps.
Kieran Dowell has already moved to Birmingham City, joining Ben Davies and Scott Wright at the League One leaders south of the border.
Rabbi Matondo is also ‘expected’ to follow him, Rangers in negotiations with several would-be suitors amid interest in the English Championship.
But the Rangers cull won’t end there with Tom Lawrence another who is ‘expected’ to leave Ibrox with plenty of interest in the English second flight.
Tom Lawrence ‘expected’ to leave Rangers
Former Daily Mirror journalist Darren Witcoop is reporting that Tom Lawrence is ‘expected’ to leave Rangers this month.
Witcoop claims that Rangers have fielded enquiries from several clubs in the English Championship and overseas as they look to get the 31-year-old off the wage bill.
It’s not the first time Tom Lawrence has been linked with the Rangers exit door this January either.
Reports earlier in the window had suggested that Besiktas are interested in Lawrence and a potential reunion with ex-Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Premier League club Ipswich Town have also been linked to Lawrence, with Championship duo Burnley and Sheffield United also mentioned.
Transfer reports linking Lawrence with a move out of Ibrox had cooled with the player returning to the squad after another lengthy injury lay-off.
Rangers need more from £1.15m per season crock
Rangers held off Premier League interest to sign Tom Lawrence in the summer of 2022 following the expiration of his contract at Derby County.
But the Welsh international’s time in Glasgow has been decimated with injury problems and a lack of consistency.
Lawrence started his Rangers career brightly but succumbed to a serious knee injury which would end his first season at the club prematurely.
The former Man United youth then struggled to regain his rhythm before a number of setbacks interrupted his second season at Ibrox.

Injury has once again limited Tom Lawrence at Rangers this campaign and, despite showing flashes of his talent, the string of problems over the last three seasons has taken its toll.
Rangers cannot afford someone on Tom Lawrence’s wages – Salary Sport claim the playmaker picks up £22k per week (£1.15m per annum) – to have such little impact on the team.
An exit beckons for the attacking midfielder, who is technically out of contract at the end of the season.
Whilst Rangers do retain the option of another year, the Ibrox side won’t be difficult to deal with when it comes to any move out of Ibrox.
