Rangers have already shipped out four first-team players this January as they look to reshuffle Philippe Clement’s Ibrox squad.
Kieran Dowell is the latest name to leave Rangers having just signed a six-month loan deal with League One Leaders Birmingham City.
This is after Alex Lowry signed a permanent deal at Wycombe Wanderers and both Robbie Fraser (Livingston) & Cole McKinnon (Ayr United) were allowed to leave on loan.
But whilst Rangers fans want to see new faces coming into the team this January, a fifth player is ‘expected’ to be shipped out of the squad.
Rabbi Matondo ‘expected’ to leave Ibrox
Rangers are in a bit of a pickle when it comes to the future of the former Manchester City youth winger Rabbi Matondo.
The 23-year-old has been told he can leave Rangers but as we enter the final week of the window we’ve yet to see any major breakthrough.
Matondo almost looked set to join Coventry but a deal fell apart over performance bonuses and add-ons.
Ligue 1 side Nantes have been linked to Matondo with interest on the continent after a successful loan stint with Cercle Brugge in 2021/22.

The Rangers Review are also reporting Rangers remain in negotiations with a number of suitors over the winger, with interest in the English Championship.
It’s now being claimed that Rangers are ‘expected’ to beat the transfer deadline and move Matondo on before the window slams shut next Monday.
Should Rangers manage to strike a deal to move Matondo on, it will draw a line under what’s been an ultimately disappointing two-and-a-half years in Glasgow.
Rabbi Matondo’s Rangers career in numbers
Rangers paid a not inconsiderable fee to sign Rabbi Matondo from Schalke 04 in 2022, splashing out anywhere up to £3m to bring the winger to Glasgow.
That’s a substantial outlay for Rangers and one Matondo has never really repaid, and that’s before you go into the winger’s not inconsiderable wages too.
Salary Sport report that Matondo earns a whopping £23k per week or £1.2m per season to prop up the Rangers squad.
That’s if the winger is ever fit enough to earn a spot on the bench.
Injuries have decimated Rabbi Matondo’s Rangers career with the spritely Welsh international suffering no fewer than four serious injuries in three seasons at Ibrox.
Rangers even turned down a late loan bid from Norwich City in the summer only for Matondo to suffer a three month injury weeks later.
Having made 67 appearances for Rangers, Matondo has scored eight goals and laid on twelve assists for the Ibrox club.
The pick of the bunch was a last-minute equaliser against Old Firm rivals Celtic during a 3-3 draw at Ibrox last season.
