Rangers fans told what transfer business to expect this week in ominous update

Rangers fans have been frantically updating their phone screens since before the transfer window even opened this summer.

Ahead of next season Rangers boss Philippe Clement claimed the Gers had ‘quite a rebuild’ in front of them.

Clement then lambasted Ross Wilson’s woeful contract model which saw five of the Ibrox club’s most experienced players leave for nothing in the summer.

Throw into the mix Big Phil suggesting that experience is now top of the transfer agenda and you’ll forgive Rangers fans for feeling like a swathe of additions are imminent.

But an ominous update from the heart of the Netherlands will be enough to send shivers down the spines of already nervous Rangers supporters.

Ominous Rangers transfer update

As Rangers jetted out to the club’s summer training camp, the focus was more on those exit linked Gers players who made the trip than it was about new signings.

But that the club’s squad is so decidedly short for what Clement had described as a crucial pre-season camp in terms of reversing the injury situation at Ibrox is making for grim viewing.

There is still plenty of work to be done for Nils Koppen and co this summer but as pre-season kicks off with a 0-0 draw against Standard Liege, with the Premiership return less than a month away, the expectations of Rangers fans are plummeting.

Let’s not talk about the Champions League qualifiers or the situation with the Copland Stand either.

With the hours ticking down ahead of the new season, leading journalist Chris Jack has also just provided an ominous transfer update as the club’s players are put through their paces in Holland.

Claiming that no transfer deals to bring players into the club are ‘imminent’, the journalist claims via the Rangers Review that there are no deals expected to be announced in the coming days.

An excerpt from the journalist’s Standard Liege match report reads:

“It is, of course, easier said than done to get players in and out. It is understood that there is nothing imminent in terms of new recruits and Rangers do not expect to add to the squad in the coming days.”

The claim was then backed up Andy Newport of the Daily Record, who added that “no movement in or out is expected while the team is in Holland.”

Nervous Ibrox fans expect Gers movement

We don’t have to tell you that this news will only increase nerves amongst Rangers fans.

Whilst the Ibrox side have brought in a number of new faces, only goalkeeper Liam Kelly (Motherwell) can be considered senior and he’s only 28.

Rangers need bigger profiles, extra experience and more quality if they’re to seriously compete for the title this season and the club’s fans know it.

The sounds around Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean haven’t gone anywhere but any deal for the 32-year-old midfielder will only be the start.

Throw in those exit links around as many as seven Rangers first-team stars and the side who are currently in the Netherlands could bear to resemblance to the team that lines up at Tynecastle.

Philippe Clement used the word ‘rebuild’ and he continues to talk about the need for greater quality.

With the fixtures set to come thick and fast, if Rangers don’t start delivering on such promises soon we will be going into the new season with an almighty stink hanging around Glasgow.
