A mysterious video of Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson has tongues wagging regarding a potential new singing at Ibrox Stadium.
The Ibrox transfer guru has had a busy window to date as the Gers add John Souttar, Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence to the club’s ranks amid a series of high-profile contract renewals.
But the club’s business is almost certainly not done yet amid high-profile links to the likes of Rabbi Matondo, Angelo Fulgini and Malik Tillman in the press.
Rangers are notoriously tight-lipped about any prospective transfer interest so fans really don’t have much to go on other than links that appear in the press, usually from closer to any selling clubs.
So you’ll forgive some for getting excited by an admittedly indiscriminate video that appears to show Ross Wilson picking someone up from Glasgow Airport.
Apparent Ross Wilson Rangers airport clip sends fans into online frenzy
Whilst we cannot realistically confirm nor deny the content of the video, or give it any real context, we’re merely responding to the frenzied reaction we’re seeing online as a result of it.
The video appears to show an unidentified person putting luggage into the boot of a car being driven by Ross Wilson.
This has had plenty of amateur online detectives believing that the figure in the video is Angelo Fulgini, who has been extensively linked to Rangers this week.
However, and whilst we can’t confirm or deny anything about this mysterious video, reports coming out of Germany are suggesting that Rangers and Ross Wilson have missed out on the midfielder.
According to BILD, a reliable source on all things German football, Angelo Fulgini is having a medical with the Bundesliga side and a move could be announced later today (Tuesday, 12th July).
According to the report, Mainz have beaten both Borussia Monchengladbach and Rangers to the 25-year-old’s signature with earlier reports suggesting Angers were holding out for £6m.
But whilst it’s certainly fun to muse over what might be in this clearly inconclusive video – the entire thing summing up the madness of transfer season – we also have our own doubts.
Before we talk about the fact that you cannot tell who is in the video, would Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson seriously be having a prospective new signing loading his own bags into a car boot?
Meanwhile, a rival manager has complained after the Gers pipped his side to one of the club’s main signings in this window.
