A former French youth international capped all the way up to U21 level, this would be a notable and marquee summer signing if Rangers can get a deal over the line.

However, according to these reports Rangers have yet to meet the Ligue 1 club’s valuation of the attacking midfielder and the Gers also face strong competition to sign him.

Angelo Fulgini is said to have come close to a move to Borussia Monchengladbach in January with the Bundesliga said to have once again expressed an interest in recent weeks.

From within France, Ligue 1 Lille are also said to be interested with Paulo Fonseca’s side making contact with Angers President Said Chabane regarding a potential move.

What’s more, Angelo Fulgini is said to have a “gentleman’s agreement” with Angers that he can leave the club this summer with his contract expiring next season.

GFFN and L’Equipe aren’t the only ones mentioning Rangers’ apparent interest in the player, with French football journalist Nabil Djellit also mentioning the Ibrox side alongside Fulgini.

The journalist claims Rangers have made an offer but face competition from Bundesliga club Mainz with Angers valuing the attacking midfielder around £6m (€7m).

It’s also very interesting that these links to Angelo Fulgini come with the Gers set to lose Nigerian international midfielder Joe Aribo to Southampton.

The Ibrox side have struck a reported £10m+ package for the 25-year-old with the move nearing completion.

Angelo Fulgini would replace the technique and flair lost by Aribo’s departure and send a statement regarding the club’s ambitions in the transfer market.

Since joining Angers from Valenciennes in 2017, the creative midfielder has gone on to make 160 appearances for the French club, netting 24 goals and laying on 17 assists.

Rangers have been shrewd so far in the transfer window, adding three internationals to the club’s squad for a combined £300k.
