With the window opening next month, transfer stories are beginning to gather momentum.
One of the latest players linked with Rangers is George Edmundson. The Scottish Sun reports that the Gers are weighing up a £450k swoop for the 21-year-old centre-back.

It’s suggested he’s already been given a tour of the Hummel Training Centre. However, other interested parties reportedly include Stoke City, Sunderland, Hull City, Preston and Fleetwood Town.
He currently plies his trade for Oldham Athletic, in EFL League Two.
Despite that reasonably low standard, he’s said to be a highly rated young defender.
At 6ft 3′, Edmundson offers a considerable physical presence at the back. Furthermore, he’s played an impressive 54 times at the back for the Latics this season, following loan stints in the National League.
He possesses some ability at the top end of the pitch too, scoring twice and registering two assists in the league.

Of course, centre-back is an area in which the Gers do have to strengthen in the coming window.
If the Gers are to compete next season, they need strength in depth.
Perhaps, then, in Edmundson, they are targeting a talented operator with an eye on the future.
After the story broke, some Bears expressed their opinions on the reported interest. Here’s a selection of reactions:
