Ben Davies is reportedly closing in on a move to Birmingham City as the Rangers defender nears an Ibrox exit.
The Englishman was signed back in the summer of 2022 for a fee of £4m from Liverpool after just one season at the Anfield giants.
He was previously linked with Celtic but Rangers stole a march on their Old Firm rivals to secure Davies’ signature under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
But Davies has proven to be one of the worst player investments at Ibrox in recent memory having failed to live up to his hefty price tag.
Rangers fans would be glad to see the back of him this summer and it appears they will get their wish with a report stating he is on his way to English League One.

Birmingham ‘want’ Davies loan deal
The Daily Record are reporting that Davies is very close to sealing a switch to Birmingham City, who currently sit seventh in the third tier of English football.
They say the 29-year-old is wanted in a loan with option to buy deal and manager Chris Davies is keen to recruit Davies before Birmingham’s next match against Leyton Orient on Saturday.
Moving Davies out of Ibrox may finally kickstart Rangers’ recruitment drive again after Philippe Clement stated players would have to leave before any incomings are signed.
Rangers fans rejoice
The report regarding Davies has Rangers fans rejoicing on social media as they appear set to wave goodbye to the flop left-sided central defender.
One fan wrote on X: “Don’t think we spend enough time analysing just how bad a signing Davies was. I’d happily set up a working group that meets once a week (minimum) just to discuss how terrible a 4 MILLION POUNDS signing he was.”
While another said: “All I can say is thankyou Birmingham”.
This supporter simply posted: “YESSSSSSS”.
Another wrote: “Ben Davies leaving for Birmingham has genuinely lowered my stress levels”.
While this X user gave a more detailed analysis: “I’m not his biggest fan but I struggle to see how a loan deal helps us…..apart from removing his wages, it just leaves us so exposed at CB position- big balg can’t stay fit and now propper is crocked?”
