Rangers ARE planning a late raid on Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts for influential centre-back John Souttar, according to the 4th Official.

The media outlet – which claims to have the inside track and many sources on a range of football transfers – claims Rangers will try to bring the Jambos star to Ibrox before the deadline shuts.

Taking to their official Patreon page, the 4th Official claim the “expectation” is that Rangers will return with another bid.

Rangers have already agreed a pre-contract deal for the 25-year-old Scotland international who will be an Ibrox star come the end of the season regardless of what happens today.

The Gers have also already had a reported £300k bid knocked back for the defender – the offer confirmed by Hearts boss Robbie Neilson – with some claiming the Tynecastle club want at least double that.

Whatever the case, this is Rangers’ last chance to make the Hearts defender an Ibrox player before the window closes.

Rangers ‘expected’ to launch John Souttar Hearts move

After the defensive horror show up in Dingwall – and amid a series of injuries at centre-back – stumping up for John Souttar this window is also viewed by many as sensible given the backdrop of the league championship and potential automatic Champions League qualification.

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson also quipped about the defensive performance from Rangers in the 3-3 draw and hinted the door is very much still open for a move.

“Craig will probably four to six weeks. John took a knock but he’s fine,” said Neilson [Scottish Sun].

“He’s left here OK and he’ll be back in tomorrow. And I expect he’ll be available for Tuesday if he’s still here.

“There’s been nothing new with him — although I saw they lost three goals today so I might get a phone call!

“But at this moment in time there’s been nothing.”

The transfer window is certainly heating up for Rangers with a series of incomings and outgoings being mooted as we prepare to enter the final hours of the window.

Rangers are also said to be closing in on a move for a Euro U21 international to replace the club’s biggest departure this January.
