Rangers will be seeing their fourth permanent exit of the summer transfer window in the coming days.

James Tavernier’s exit has been the main talking point, but there have been two other players who have played their last games for the club as well.

Kieran Wright is leaving Rangers following the expiry of his contract, as will defender Leon King.

Ben Davies set to leave after 58 senior appearances

Ben Davies is expected to be the next player to part ways with the Ibrox outfit, according to Read Rangers.

The English defender, in the final year of his contract, joined Oxford United on loan last summer.

After playing a bit-part role there, he has returned to Rangers with over a month left on his contract.

There are no plans at the club to hand him a new deal, and an official announcement conveying his permanent exit is expected in due course.

Davies, who has been on the Gers’ books for four years, has made 58 senior appearances for them, but will not feature again at Ibrox.

His loan spell at Birmingham City and the Oxford United one did not prove to be enough for Danny Rohl and the club to offer him a new contract.

Will Rangers regret parting ways with Davies?

When Davies joined from Liverpool for an initial £3m fee, there were hopes that he could eventually become a reliable first-team player.

He signed a four-year deal with the expectation that he would be a regular starter for the Ibrox outfit.

Being a left-sided centre-back capable of playing as a left-back, this deal seemed to be a no-brainer at the time.

However, things have not paid off quite as most people thought they would, and he is now 30 and leaving on a free transfer.

The only regret the Gers will have is that they did not recoup anything from his services after paying a decent transfer fee.

Most fans would probably be forgiven if they forgot that Davies is still on the books, and he most certainly is not the one to address the team’s defensive woes.
