Jack Butland has taken to social media to send an emotional message as a move away from Rangers is confirmed.

With the 2025-26 season all wrapped up and Andrew Cavenagh offering support to Danny Rohl publicly, all eyes are now on the summer transfer window, when the Light Blues are expected to undergo another squad overhaul.

The goalkeeping department at Rangers is an area that needs attention, as evidenced by Butland’s howler against Falkirk in the season finale on Saturday.

Butland sends message as Kieran Wright confirms exit

Changes to the goalkeeping department are set to begin with Kieran Wright, who is drawing a curtain on his 17-year spell at Ibrox.

The shot-stopper, who was recently on a seven-day emergency loan at Kilmarnock, will leave Rangers when his contract expires this summer.

Therefore, Wright took to Instagram on Monday to announce his departure, expressing his gratitude to have been a part of the Govan club for 17 years.

Butland was quick to respond to his fellow goalkeeper, sending him an emotional message.

He wrote: “All the best to you and the family, mate. You’ve been a pleasure to work with.”

Apart from Butland, several other Rangers players, including Findlay Curtis, Connor Barron, and Leon King, wished the 27-year-old the best as he embarks on a new journey.

Could Butland be the next Rangers captain

Butland’s goalkeeping has left much to be desired at times, but he is in the frame to become the Gers’ new captain.

The Ibrox outfit have to announce their new skipper ahead of the new season, with James Tavernier already heading towards the exit door.

At 33, Butland brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the table, having represented the England national team and played in the Premier League.

However, at least a section of Rangers fans would argue that the club need a new first-choice goalkeeper if they are serious about winning the title next season.

Therefore, Rohl faces a real dilemma when deciding who to give the armband to.
