Former Rangers defender Craig Moore would back the club if they were to inquire about the signing of Greg Taylor at the end of the season.
The Celtic left-back is out of contract in the summer and Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he is likely to shun a new deal and leave the club.
That prompted ex-Rangers striker Kris Boyd to float the controversial idea of Rangers making a move to sign Taylor for nothing.
The Scottish Sun columnist asked: ”If you’re Rangers, would you offer Greg Taylor a contract?
”Just when you think of (Ridvan) Yilmaz and Jefte. I think Greg Taylor has shown for a consistent period of time now how consistent he has been.
”If he’s not going to be at Celtic, he said he want to play football, he wants to play regular. Could we see him switch sides in Glasgow?”

Craig Moore wants Rangers to ‘ask’ Taylor transfer question
On Tuesday, Moore joined former Celtic striker John Hartson on The Go Radio Football Show and was asked by host Paul Cooney if Rangers signing Taylor would be a crazy idea.
Moore – who won 13 major trophies with the Light Blues – went on to say that he agreed with Boyd’s suggestion and wouldn’t discourage Rangers from having a look into a potential deal.
Moore said: “I would ask the question, I tend to agree with Kris Boyd on this situation. Look, I’ve never been that player who has been posed that problem, and it’s certainly not for everybody.
“But you can only ask the question. I mean, Greg Taylor’s a top professional, been very successful and he’s only 27 years of age. On a free, it wouldn’t be daft to ask the question.
“Look, we know that’s a big, big switch if that were (to happen). This is just speculation at the moment. But you would like to think anyway that Greg Taylor’s going to be sitting in a position where there’s going to be better options on the table.
“You hear the Croatian league and all that stuff. Yes there’s fantastic teams in Croatia, and it’s no disrespect because they produce some fantastic players. But I don’t think that would be the destination for Greg Taylor.
“Yeah, he could go down there (to the English Championship) and do well. I think the Premier League is probably beyond him. But I certainly think in terms of the Championship, he could go down and continue to do really well like he has.”
Players to have represented both Rangers & Celtic
It’s an extremely unlikely proposition given the length of time Taylor has played for Celtic and the number of trophies he has won there.
But if Rangers were to sign the former Kilmarnock full-back, he would join an exclusive list of players to have played for both Old Firm senior sides.
Mo Johnston is the most famous post-war example when he made the incredible switch from Celtic to Rangers in 1987.
More recent examples include Steven Pressley and Kenny Miller. Taylor would become the seventh post-war player to don the jersey of both clubs if he were to sign for Rangers in the summer.
It must be said that Taylor was actually once on the books at the Rangers academy. He was there for six years before leaving for Killie in 2014.
Why did Taylor leave? As per the Greenock Telegraph, he was told by Rangers that he was “too small and too slight”, the classic excuse to release a youngster up in Scotland.
