Rangers have confirmed that Polish U21 international right-back Mateusz Zukowski has officially left the club, returning to his home country with Slask Wrocław.

Taking their official social media channels, Rangers wished the 21-year-old the best of luck for the future as he prepares for a permanent stint in the Estraklasa.

Earlier reports had suggested Rangers would once again be loaning the young right-back out, Mateusz Zukowski having spent last season on loan at Lech Poznan.

An official club tweet reads:

“RangersFC can today confirm that Mateusz Zukowski has joined @SlaskWroclawPl for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

”Everyone at the club wishes @Zukowskimateo4 the very best of luck for the future.”

Mateusz Zukowski latest player to leave Rangers

Matuesz Zukowski played only one game for Rangers after joining in the ill-fated January transfer window of 2022, Ross Wilson sanctioning a deal to reportedly pay the Polish side Lechia Gdansk £400k.

This came after the club had just signed a reported £16m deal to sell Scotland international right-back Nathan Patterson to Premier League club Everton.

The right-back’s only appearance would come in a 3-0 Scottish Cup win over Annan Athletic with the deal quite simply failing to pay off from a Rangers perspective.

Mateusz Zukowski also becomes the sixth first-team player to leave Rangers this summer and follows out an albeit bigger list of more prestigious Ibrox names.

Rangers released club royalty in Allan McGregor at the end of this season, whilst the club also failed to renew the contracts of Filip Helander, Scotty Arfield, Ryan Kent or Alfredo Morelos.

The exits are unlikely to end with Mateusz Zukowski either, the Polish defender set to lead several out of the Ibrox doors in what will be a busy summer for the club.

No fewer than an additional five names have been extensively linked with exits, with Jon McLaughlin, Ben Davies, Glen Kamara, Scott Wright and Antonio Colak all tipped to leave.

There have also been reports claiming that Rangers will “consider” offers for ex-Schalke winger Rabbi Matondo, who has failed to impress since joining last summer.
