Rangers are set to “consider” offers for winger Rabbi Matondo, who could soon become the club’s sixth or seventh choice forward in attack.

That’s according to the Rangers Review, who’ve claimed that the winger could also be given another season to prove himself following a hugely underwhelming first campaign in Scotland.

The report looks at Rabbi Matondo’s current status at Rangers and eventually points to the club’s high-profile transfer targets this summer.

With Michael Beale preferring to play with two front men since returning to Rangers, and the likes of Antonio Colak and Kemar Roofe still at the club, there’s already been plenty of movement in this regard.

Rangers have moved to sign Atalanta forward Sam Lammers, with a deal for Brighton’s Senegalese attacker Abdallah Sima inching closer to completion.

There is also high profile interest in Cremonese forward Cyriel Dessers as well as Feyenoord striker Danilo, something which could potentially put the 22-year-old Welsh international seventh choice in Rangers forward line.

Rabbi Matondo’s Rangers future hangs in balance

That would suggest that minutes will be at a premium for Matondo, who is also behind the likes of Fashion Sakala at the club at present.

Having joined on a reported £2m deal under the directorship of Ross Wilson, a reported £28k per week four-year contract looks suspect in retrospect and is a damning indictment of the business conducted under the now Nottingham Forest director.

Rangers appear lumbered with an expensive and ineffective forward option who has yet to find the net for the club and who Michael Beale admitted was in a crisis of confidence last season.

With the club’s all-time domestic dominance on the line against Celtic this season, there is no room for players who cannot contribute and if a suitable offer lands for Rabbi Matondo, Rangers will reportedly listen.

Rabbi Matondo isn’t the only first-teamers being linked with an exit either, as five of his teammates reportedly nudge closer to the exit door.
