Rangers want to sign highly-rated winger Kwadwo Baah from Rochdale, but face competition from West Ham, Juventus and Bayern Munich, according to The Athletic.

18-year-old Baah made his first-team debut for Rochdale in October 2019 and has established himself as a regular in recent times.

He’s made 17 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring three goals and notching two assists, with his most impressive performance coming in a 4-4 draw at Charlton in which he scored a brace.

Baah has pace to burn and is athletically built, while he usually operates on the left wing and looks to cut inside onto his right foot.

The Athletic report states that Rangers are in the hunt for his signature but that multiple EFL Championships sides, as well as Juventus and Bayern Munich, are also circling, while West Ham have already made an offer.

The player’s deal expires at the end of the season, so a pre-contract swoop is possible. However, the Dale are said to be willing to sell this month, so the Gers may have to stump up some cash if they want to beat off the competition.

Baah is still raw and very inexperienced at senior level, but he’s an exciting talent and it’s no surprise that Steven Gerrard is looking for reinforcements in wide areas.

There are plenty of wingers on the books at Ibrox, but of them, only Ryan Kent plays regularly.

Brandon Barker has only played a handful of minutes since the turn of the year, Jordan Jones has been linked with a loan exit [Daily Record] and both Jake Hastie and Jamie Murphy are already out on loan, with the latter’s permanent departure to Hibs already agreed.

Rochdale are due to play Bristol Rovers in League One on Saturday afternoon, so it will be interesting to see whether or not Baah features in that game, with the transfer deadline fast approaching.

Baah isn’t the only teenage attacker Rangers are said to be interested in, although another club appears to have moved first in the bid to sign an Ibrox-linked Wigan Athletic starlet.
