Philippe Clement might say that he isn’t frustrated, however, not adding any new faces for Rangers after Fabio Silva must be hard to take.

The Gers boss has hinted that he is close to bringing new players in and the forward line in particular could do with some help.

A proven success in the Scottish Premiership makes sense and Motherwell’s on-loan Mika Biereth would be perfect for Rangers amid talks of another short-term move away from Arsenal.

Sheffield Wednesday, according to The Star, are said to be interested in hijacking the Steelmen’s season long loan for the in-form 20-year old.

The 6ft 2inch tall hitman has an impressive physical presence for such a young player and is clearly one that Mikel Arteta is keeping an eye on.

Perhaps, he could do his old club a favour and send him to Ibrox until the end of the season.

Now probably isn’t the time to be taking risks on permanent deals, this campaign has been a virtual write-off for Danilo but he has age on his side and is clearly capable of being the type of striker Clement can rely on.

We might have paid over the odds for him but, Cyriel Dessers, as a back-up, is more than serviceable too.

What Rangers need though, is cover from now until the end of the season due to the uncertainty over Kemar Roofe and Danilo.

That Clement wants to be asked about them again in months rather than days or weeks suggest that we won’t see much of them again in 2023/24.

Mika Biereth has 11 goal contributions in 15 games for a side that has struggled for large parts and has shown that he has the perfect all-round game to be an effective modern number nine.

He might not start as many games for Rangers but he would be better served playing in a title race, for silverware and in the Europa League rather than mid-table obscurity in the Championship.
