Rangers have been boosted by news that summer signing Kieran Dowell will return to the squad from injury for the League Cup clash with Livingston next week.
The 25-year-old midfielder has not been seen since the 2-2 Champions League Playoff draw with PSV Eindhoven on the 22nd of August
One of the most notable absentees from the club’s Europa League squad, the situation with the Kieran Dowell injury would not impact the clash with Real Betis.
But speaking ahead of the game, Michael Beale confirmed that as Rangers count the cost of injuries to Danilo, Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin, Kieran Dowell is slowly on the mend.
“The injuries to the three mentioned, Danilo, Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin isn’t ideal,” Beale told the press ahead of the game. “They’re three important players.
“There’s a bit of good news around Dowell, we’re hoping he’ll back by the Livingston game into the game with Aberdeen so we get another number back but we still had 20 senior players today.”

With Rangers set to welcome Livingston to Ibrox next week (27/09) it means Kieran Dowell is set to return from injury within the next seven days.
This comes as a major boost to Rangers with the club’s injury situation beginning to put the strain on Michael Beale’s squad.
Danilo, Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin will all be out until at least the upcoming international break with Rangers facing a six-game run without the trio.
There are minimum expectations from the upcoming clashes with the under pressure Michael Beale needing to deliver against Real Betis (H), Motherwell (H), Livingston (H), Aberdeen (H), Aris Limassol (A) and St Mirren (A).
The return of Kieran Dowell from injury is a sure fire boost to the Rangers manager’s chances but with the player not included in the Europa League squad, only on the domestic front.
