In a boost for Rangers, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has asserted that they aren’t planning on doing much business in the January transfer window [Pete O’Rourke].
Southampton were linked with the Gers’ Player of the Season so far Joe Aribo earlier this month.
The Daily Record claimed that the Saints were actively scouting the Nigeria international and had a put together a number of positive reports from domestic and European fixtures.
It was asserted that they had a representative at Ibrox as recently as the clash against Dundee United on 18th December in order to watch Aribo.
Plenty of Southampton fans were delighted with the link given the 25-year-old’s excellent recent form.
The Saints have also been linked to another top Rangers performer, Glen Kamara [TEAMtalk].
However, it looks unlikely that they’ll be prizing away any top assets from Ibrox next month, after Hasenhuttl suggested that he doesn’t expect them to do much business.
Saints lack of transfer plans a boost for Rangers
Hasenhuttl hasn’t totally ruled out business taking place but it sounds like a major signing is unlikely at St Mary’s and both Aribo and Kamara would certainly be that given their ever-growing profiles.
That’s great news for Rangers fans who want to see the two stars remain at Ibrox at least until the end of the season.
Other Premier League clubs are also said to be keen on the duo, though, so Rangers may still need to be braced for bids next month.
