Rangers maybe missed out on Malik Tillman, however, the move that he is making still sees the Light Blues getting a good deal.

The 20-year old, at one point, seemed certain to extend his stay in Glasgow, however, Bayern Munich decided to cancel the option-to-buy clause and look for other possibilities.

After initial reports suggested that the Rangers young player of the year would sign a new deal at Bayern and join Stuttgart on loan, Malik Tillman is now set to make a permanent move, according to The Daily Record.

Rangers potential lift with reported Malik Tillman transfer

The fee, said to be £6m plus add ons means that Michael Beale could land, at least, an extra £600,000 on top of the £1m that the German giants reportedly paid to cancel the original agreement.

As well as a solid return in terms of goals and assists, it looks like it has been a good deal all round for Rangers.

It’s not often a club borrows a player and makes nearly £2m due to them not signing.

Rangers did try to buy Tillman, that has been clearly reported, so there were obviously plans for the goalscoring midfielder next season.

Todd Cantwell’s move to the final third and a more advanced position when Tillman’s season was ended due to injury does give Michael Beale an alternative though.

There are never any guarantees with transfers but Rangers would have known what they were getting for their money with Malik Tillman.

On top of the £2.5m Rangers got for Antonio Colak, another £1.6m would be a welcome boost to the coffers.

Given his age and relative inexperience, it looks as though he is only going to get better, unfortunately, it won’t be at Ibrox.
