Rangers have announced the permanent departure of Northern Ireland youth international striker Chris McKee to Linfield.
Taking to social media, the Gers confirmed the young Ulsterman would join the Blues for an “undisclosed fee” after spending the season on loan in Belfast.
The 20-year-old striker from Carrickfergus has signed a two-year deal in the Northern Irish capital after spending the last season on loan at the club.
In total, Chris McKee made 10 appearances in the Danske Bank Premiership, scoring five goals as Linfield were crowned Champions.
The youngster himself took to Twitter to express his delight at the signing the deal as he looks to continue his development back across the water.
Rangers’ Chris McKee officially moves to Linfield
Chris McKee actually joined Rangers from the Linfield youth set-up in 2018 but he failed to make the breakthrough into the Ibrox club’s top team and now returns to Northern Ireland.
Prior to the Linfield loan McKee also spent three months out at Brechin City in the lower leagues of Scottish football.
Speaking to Linfield’s official club media, it’s a move which McKee claims he is delighted to see come to fruition.
”I’m delighted so I am,” said McKee [Linfield].
“Obviously it’s been a bit coming to get this finished but I’m delighted to get it done and I can’t wait to kick on next season now.
“It’s my first time playing in Europe at first team level so I can’t wait to get involved in them big games.
“Being able to travel home and away to play them games will be massive and it’ll be a great experience for me and hopefully we can go on and do well.”
Chris McKee has already etched himself into Linfield folklore by scoring the second goal in the final day 2-0 win over Coleraine which clinched the Irish Premiership title by a point.
Meanwhile, a Premier League club have just splashed £26m amid links to a leading Rangers asset this summer.
