Rangers have announced the signing of Danilo from Feyenoord in a deal that seemed unlikely when Cyriel Dessers was announced as being our new number nine.
With the traditional forward numbers available, the Brazilian has has taken number 99 with the traditional forward options unavailable.
It is an exciting transfer, said to be worth £6m, the announcement by the official club website, couldn’t come at a better time for Rangers fans with a trip to Hoffenheim the final friendly of pre-season before the real action kicks off when Danilo will be a key component.

Rangers announce Danilo and Brazilian cant wait to get going
After signing a five-year deal with Rangers, the 24-year old expressed his delight at getting the deal over the line:
“I’m super happy, I can’t wait to start playing at Ibrox in front of the supporters.
“I’m so in love already with the club and I’m excited to be part of the Rangers team.
“It’s time to get to work and I hope that I can repay the love that they have shown to me.”
The pre-season games have shown what Rangers need – firepower.
Just one goal has been scored from open play from a goal that we have created, we won’t win games just from pressing opposition defences.
Or from getting penalties every week, despite what the conspiracy theorists might tell us.
Rangers need Danilo to be the number nine (or 99) that can be relied upon both in European and domestic football.
He is fit and ready to go and shouldn’t be held back purely because he hasn’t done a lot of training sessions.

This is the signing of the summer and the one that will excite fans the most and has shown that James Bisgrove and Michael Beale weren’t kidding when they said that it was going to be a big summer and that we weren’t “holding back“.
Rangers having a player of Danilo’s quality in addition to the players that the Gers gaffer already has is only going to improve our chances of success.
He might not be the cherry on top of the cake, but he is certainly the flake on top of the ice cream…
