Serie A side Lecce have launched a bid for Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke amid links to reported Rangers target Scott McKenna.
Sky Sports are reporting that the Italian side want to sign the 23-year-old centre-back on loan until the end of the season.
This would theoretically free up a place in the Celtic squad for a new defender, with Liverpool loanee Nat Philipps also returning to Anfield this January.
Rangers & Celtic linked to Scott McKenna
Rangers fans who have been following those Ibrox links to Scott McKenna will note the situation with Celtic also linked to the Nottingham Forest defender.
Scotland international McKenna, 27, is expected to leave the City Ground this January after falling out of favour at the Premier League club.
Despite returning to the Forest squad for their weekend’s FA Cup clash with Blackpool, the defender is still expected to be moved on this January.
Both Rangers and Celtic have been linked to Scott McKenna, with Turkish outfit Trabzonspor also mentioned as potential suitors.
Despite claims that Celtic are not in the running to sign the defender, who is out of contract in the summer, Brendan Rodgers failed with a bid for the centre-back during McKenna’s time at Aberdeen.
Scott McKenna is also a self-confessed Celtic fan.

Gers on centre-back hunt?
Rangers have been strong defensively at times this season but the club have lacked a consistent left-sided defensive partner alongside Connor Goldson in their squad.
The jury remains out on the routinely injured Ben Davies whilst John Souttar has been unable to hold down a place under Philippe Clement.
Leon Balogun – who turns 36 in the summer – has been the Belgian’s preferred choice beside the Ibrox vice-captain.
As Lecce move for Lagerbielke, Celtic might not be reconsidering their position on Scott McKenna whilst Rangers fans are already mulling over other transfer options.
These include one bluenose English Championship defender who could be set to leave his current club this January.
