Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a move for Ajax centre-back Jurrien Timber amid Rangers links to Auston Trusty.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are “advancing” on a deal for the 22-year-old Dutch centre-back, who can also play at right-back as Mikel Arteta bolsters his squad.
The ex-Rangers star narrowly missed out on the Premier League title last season against a relentless Man City but with some fine tuning will hope to beat old master Pep Guardiola this time around.
According to the likes of Goal, Arsenal will need to pay around £50m to sign Jurrien Timber and Rangers fans will have one eye on a deal amid links to Auston Trusty.
Whilst some reports have claimed that Rangers are now out of the Auston Trusty hunt, Arsenal’s asking price said to be out of reach, the Ibrox side continue to be mentioned alongside the defender.
Auston Trusty coy on Arsenal future
Currently on USA international duty and gearing up for the Gold Cup, it remains unclear what will happen to Auston Trusty this summer with Rangers mentioned again earlier in the week.
Speaking to the Athletic back then, ex-Colorado Rapids centre-back Trusty, 24, claimed that serious talk of his future has been shelved whilst he enjoys some down time but that he’s been discussing it with his international teammates.
“I definitely speak to the other players (about potential moves) because we’ve all been in these environments,” said Trusty.

“The football world is very small, so if you’re in a situation a lot of guys have been in, it’s good to talk to people here because not too many people, at least around me, other than my agent and the team, are going to understand the ins and outs fully.
“We all talk about it all day, all different scenarios and situations, which is good and helps me figure things out. But my mind really is focused on the national team right now. It’s hard for me to focus on (the transfer window) because it’s almost like I’m doing a discredit to the national team because it’s such an honor and privilege to be here.”
Rangers have also been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest centre-back Jonathan Panzo.
