Premier League club fear Malik Tillman transfer miss as Rangers wait

Rangers have missed out on Malik Tillman this summer and Sheffield United fear their pursuit will head a similar way.

The Gers took Tillman on loan from Bayern Munich last summer with an exclusive option to buy.

Rangers had the option to buy Tillman for around £5million and he somewhat divided opinion.

Tillman showed quality with 12 goals and five assists for Rangers but some felt that he was lazy and a little consistent.

‘Lazy’ always felt harsh for Tillman and the potential seemed obvious with the American talent.

Come the end of the season, Bayern scrapped Rangers’ permanent option for a fee of £1million plus a 10% sell-on clause.

Bayern ultimately felt that they could make more money by selling Tillman elsewhere amid Premier League interest.

Brighton and Hove Albion were keen, as were Brentford – but it looks like Tillman is heading to the Netherlands…

Sheffield United to miss out on former Rangers loanee Malik Tillman

Promoted side Sheffield United have been chasing a deal for Tillman but a move to Bramall Lane seems unlikely now.

The Scottish Sun report that the Blades fear missing out on Tillman with PSV Eindhoven closing in.

Tillman is now expected to complete a move to PSV very soon, with Sheffield United’s fears being realised.

The Blades already have two former Rangers players in Wes Foderingham and John Fleck as well as a Gers-mad striker in Oli McBurnie.

Two Rangers targets have also joined Sheffield United this summer with Austin Trusty and Benie Traore heading to Bramall Lane.

Adding Tillman would have brought another layer of Rangers influence to Sheffield United but a deal seemingly won’t be happening.

Rangers will still have an interest in any Tillman fee though thanks to that sell-on clause and will hope he lands a juicy move somewhere.
