For long periods after the season ended, it looked as though Malik Tillman was a dead cert to join Rangers, now, we could be facing him.

The 21-year old USA international enjoyed a successful season at Ibrox in terms of personal numbers and Michael Beale was keen to extend his stay.

After returning to Bayern Munich, it had been thought that a permanent move was the reason for the deal being cancelled but a report by Kerry Hau of Sport1 has claimed that Malik Tillman is on the way to Rangers possible Champions League opponents PSV Eindhoven.

With Xavi Simons returning to PSG, PSV are looking for a new number ten and it would appear that Tillman is their man.

Writing on X, Hau said:

“Bayern Munich’s USMNT international Malik Tillman has decided to join PSV Eindhoven!

“Both clubs are close to reaching an agreement on a loan with an option or obligation to buy for the 21-year old midfielder who is set to replace Xavi Simons.”

Michael Beale made early moves after Bayern cancelled the deal with Sam Lammers expected to be the main creative force in the final third.

Todd Cantwell also blossomed when he was tasked with playing further forwards and, if anything, looked a better fit than Malik Tillman in the new look Rangers side.

The only good thing is that the Gers gaffer knows exactly what Tillman is capable of and how he plays so there shouldn’t be any surprises if a Champions League repeat comes to fruition.

Having played a key role in getting us through last season, hopefully he is on the losing team this time around.
