Premier League giants Liverpool are considering a swoop for Rangers full-back Nathan Patterson, according to a Scottish Sun report.
Over the weekend, the Mirror claimed that Rangers were considering a £5m bid from Everton for the 19-year-old.
David Edgar of Heart & Hand subsequently asserted that the bid had been immediately rejected and Steven Gerrard branded the suggested £5m fee something ‘out of a joke book’ [Glasgow Times].
It remains to be seen whether or not the Toffees will come back with an improved offer, but they may not be the only Premier League side keen on Patterson.
That’s because the Scottish Sun reports that Liverpool are considering moving for the Scotland international.
It’s claimed that the Reds began tracking him at the beginning of the year and are keeping a ‘keen interest’ in his development.
However, it is suggested that right-back isn’t a priority position for Jurgen Klopp right now, given that he already has Trent Alexander-Arnold and Neco Williams at his disposal.

It was no great surprise when Patterson was linked with Everton at the weekend and while Liverpool are a bigger player in the Premier League, it’s certainly plausible that the right-back has caught their eye too.
He still only has 17 senior club appearances to his name, but he’s barely put a foot wrong so far on the pitch.
The teenager is strong defensively and dynamic in attack, while it’s easy to see Klopp admiring his energy levels and athleticism.
Of course, it’s possible for it to be simultaneously true that Liverpool are tracking him and are not planning on making a bid in this window, as it would make little sense for them to add to an area of their squad that is already in good shape.
Patterson might be likely to stay put, but here are five players who could head out of Ibrox during the final week of the window.
