Possible Rangers transfer blow as Euro club confirm fresh talks with reported Ibrox target

In a possible transfer blow for Rangers, FC Koln sporting director Jorg Jakobs has confirmed that his club are in fresh talks with reported Ibrox target Salih Ozcan.

It’s been stated that depending on what happens with their own assets, the Gers are considering swooping for Ozcan on a free transfer with his current deal coming to an end.

However, it’s since been suggested that Koln haven’t given up hope of holding onto the midfielder and Jakobs has now confirmed that talks regarding a possible extension are underway.

“We are talking to each other [to see] whether there could still be a future together”, he said [Inside Futbol].

Whether players are sold or not, Rangers need to strengthen in midfield this summer.

Ryan Jack is hoping to return in time for pre-season but his injury history in recent seasons ensures cover is required, particularly as Bongani Zungu has returned to parent club Amiens.

Ozcan made FourFourTwo‘s top 40 teenagers in the world in 2017 and would be a low-risk option on a free transfer, but he opted to stay at Koln last summer despite interest and with the German top-flight side keen to keep him, he could do the same again this time around.

In other news, fans of a Premier League club have responded after an update in their reported pursuit of a Rangers star.
