Rangers are among a host of clubs keen on securing the services of Plymouth Argyle attacker Aribim Pepple.

The English club’s CEO, Paul Berne, has made an admission on the striker’s future amid growing interest in his services.

The 23-year-old is on the back of a decent goal-scoring season, finding the back of the net on 18 occasions in 41 games.

Paul Berne wants to keep hold of Aribim Pepple

Berne, when asked about Pepple’s future, stated that he and the other players at the club will be there for the first day of pre-season as well.

He claims that they do not plan to sell the Canadian forward and that manager Tom Cleverley is looking forward to working with them ahead of the new season.

That said, things do not always materialise as the way clubs want them to, and if the striker wants to leave following a transfer bid from elsewhere, things could get a lot more complicated.

Derek McInnes will be aiming to win the title!

Rangers have been keen on Pepple for over a month, but reports of their interest surfaced when Danny Rohl was in charge.

Now, with McInnes at the helm, they may no longer be keen on signing the 23-year-old.

Berne said: “We have planned that all the players we have got will be with us on day one (of pre-season).

“That’s what we plan to do. The players come back to pre-season shortly and Tom (Cleverley) and the coaching staff will start on the prep on that basis.

“It’s important to say there are no planned sales. The players that we have currently with us are planned to be with us on day one of pre-season.

“We are in a much better place compared to last year when we had a lot of work to do (on the squad). We have got a lot of players who are in contract already into next year and these are players that we know can do great things in League One.”

Does Derek McInnes need Pepple at Rangers?

Pepple is a classic number nine who’s at his best when he’s playing with his back to the goal.

He’s good aerially and is known for his sharp movement inside the penalty area as he gets himself in good positions to find the back of the net.

However, with Lawrence Shankland joining and Youssef Chermiti, Ryan Naderi and Bojan Miovski already there, it makes no sense to sign another striker.

They need to bring in players to shore up the defence, two new wingers and potentially a new goalkeeper as well.
