Philippe Clement might have the air of a nice guy in his Rangers press conferences.
But the Belgian boss doesn’t play games and is a no-nonsense throwback to many of the ruthless managers of old.
Todd Cantwell knows full well not to wrong Philippe Clement, whose patience was tested time again by the ex-Norwich City star before an eventual summer exit.
The situation with Blackburn midfielder Cantwell proves it’s Clement’s way or the highway at Rangers and it’s something one prospective Ibrox target knows all about.
Rangers linked to Emmanuel Dennis
Rangers are reportedly one of a number of clubs exploring a potential loan deal for Nottingham Forest striker Emmanuel Dennis.
The Sun and Alan Nixon are claiming that the Gers and the likes of Sheffield Wednesday are monitoring the £10m hitman’s situation at the City Ground this January.
But with Dennis on whopping £80k per week wages, the transfer goes against the buy low sell high mantra of Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen at Ibrox.
That said, Rangers were linked with a move for Dennis last year and some might point to a previous link-up with Philippe Clement at Club Brugge.
But dig a little deeper and you see that Emmanuel Dennis, like Todd Cantwell, knows all about getting on the wrong side of the now Rangers manager.

Philippe Clement banished ‘Rangers target’ at Club Brugge
Emmanuel Dennis spent four years with Club Brugge between 2017 and 2021 and worked under Philippe Clement at the Belgian Pro League outfit.
But it was Clement who sanctioned the exit of Dennis in the January of 2021 after a fall-out concerning the Nigerian striker’s preferred seat on the team bus.
Dennis had been a top contributor for Philippe Clement as Club Brugge punched above their weight in the Champions League.
The striker even netted a double in a famous 2-2 draw with Real Madrid in the Bernabeu in October 2019.
But Clement would banish the striker for a clash with Borussia Dortmund a year later for kicking up a stink over his seat on the team bus during Covid times.
“He is fit, but he is not in the selection against Dortmund,” Clement said in 2020, as quoted by TalkSPORT.
“Dennis has broken some of the club’s rules. That is the only reason. I will not elaborate on his situation further.
“I only focus on the players who are there, just like with injuries and COVID cases. That’s why I’m not saying anything about Dennis.”
Two months later and Emmanuel Dennis was shipped out to FC Koln on loan before moving permanently to Watford at the end of the season.
