Ange Postecoglou has admitted Tottenham Hotspur are in desperate need of reinforcements this January amid links to Rangers hitman Hamza Igamane.
The former Celtic manager finds himself under increasing pressure at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium after defeat to Leicester City in the Premier League.
With Spurs now 15th in the English top flight table, Ange Postecoglou admits the club ‘need help’ in the transfer market amid reports surrounding Hamza Igamane.
Ange Postecoglou admits Spurs need ‘help’
Tottenham Hotspur have suffered due to a number of serious injury problems this season with once Rangers-linked Dominic Solanke the latest to be sidelined.
Spurs paid Bournemouth £65m to sign Solanke in the summer but the striker now faces six weeks on the sidelines due to a knee injury.
Speaking before the 2-1 defeat to Leicester City which leaves Spurs eight points off the relegation zone, Postecoglou admitted Tottenham technical director Johan Lange is working on new arrivals.
“I’m not out there trying to find opportunities for the club, that’s not my role at this time,” Postecoglou told the Guardian. “There isn’t time to do it.
“I have daily communication with Johan in particular and he’s trying everything he possibly can to get the help we need.
“I don’t think I’m stating anything other than the obvious and for me to come here and say something else would be disingenuous: this playing group needs help, there’s no doubt about that.
“We’re sort of playing with fire by not bringing anyone in. But the flip side of that is the club is trying to change that situation.”

Rangers want to keep Hamza Igamane
Hamza Igamane has been on fine form for Rangers ever since breaking through into the Ibrox first-team towards the end of 2024.
The Moroccan striker, 22, has been a revelation since joining the Gers from FAR Rabat in the summer and has netted 13 goals for the club since bursting onto the scene between October and November.
Igamane has nine Scottish Premiership goals in his last 11 matches, only netting his first league strike for the Gers against Kilmarnock in early December.
The hitman even scored against Tottenham Hotspur in a 1-1 Europa League draw in December.
Reports emerged over the weekend that Spurs have ‘done work’ on a potential move for Igamane this January as the North London club toil south of the border.
Philippe Clement has previously urged the Rangers board to hold firm with the Moroccan striker and to be patient before cashing in later down the line.
”I think it’s important now if we want consistency that we’re not going to sell players who are performing well,” Clement said at the beginning of January.
”Otherwise it becomes even more difficult.
Earlier Clement had said: “Somebody can make a next step, a higher step and it’s beneficial for the club and the player, there’s no possibility to stop them.
”I saw (Aurélien) Tchouaméni to Real Madrid, or (Benoît) Badiashile to Chelsea, or Charles De Ketelaere to AC Milan, or a lot of players in Genk also leaving to bigger clubs.
“It’s part of the story. I’ve done it also as a player. It’s normal in football.
”The other thing is, it’s important to know what is the right moment, for the club and the player, that’s another thing.
”Those are interesting things. That’s going to be something for the future for Hamza, I am confident about that, but not the near future.”
