Nils Koppen and the Rangers recruitment team will never stop looking at players or following up on positions that Philippe Clement has said that he needs for his team.
The squad still needs a bit of work in the January transfer window with the manager suggesting that there will be money to spend and that plans are well under way.
One of the subtle changes of modern football has been the stigma attached to the loan market dissipating with Abdallah Sima last season and Vaclav Cerny this year proving that Rangers can find quality and value.

Philippe Clement discusses Vaclav Cerny to Rangers transfer
As with Sima, the clamour for Rangers to make the move for Cerny a permanent one has grown louder as the season has gone on with the Czechia winger now sitting on 14 goal contributions in 22 appearances.
The 27-year old has become a fans’ favourite and it would appear that the feeling is mutual:
“He loves it here clearly, he told me also last week that he never felt better in his career than now physically, mentally, in the team, in the dressing room, with the staff, in the club, with the fans, everything,” Clement said when asked if Rangers could sign Cerny on a permanent basis.
“But of course he has a contract with another club at the end of the season, so that’s negotiations again.”
Could Rangers afford Cerny?
If Rangers wanted to sign Cerny, it would be as low a risk signing that Koppen could make.
Not only has he shown that he can cope with the demands of playing in Scotland and in front of an expectant Ibrox crowd, but he has also demonstrated that he adversity can be turned into a positive.
After coming under fire for missing an early sitter against Lyon, Cerny’s form has improved immeasurably to the extent that he has at times carried the whole team.
For a reported £3.8m, is there really anything to think about?
