What Vaclav Cerny said about Rangers future as he’s grilled over permanent deal

Vaclav Cerny has admitted he is open to discussing the possibility of a permanent Rangers stay.

The Czech winger, 27, has settled in at Ibrox since arriving on loan from Wolfsburg earlier this summer.

He has chipped in with six goals and five assists so far and has been one of the more impressive standouts from what has been a relatively disappointing campaign all things considered.

Cerny has been priced at around £3.8million should Rangers look to seal a deal to bring him in full-time and now the player himself has opened up on what the chances would be of sticking around.

“If it’s up to me, I would be open to talk obviously, but I think it’s very, very soon to talk about that,” Cerny admitted.

“If you don’t mind, just let me focus on helping the team and achieve what we want to achieve, me personally and as a club. I think we’ve got plenty of time to talk about this.

“I am obviously (enjoying it), yeah.”

Quizzed on how he feels the supporters have taken to him since he moved to Glasgow, Cerny was also honest when revealing he believes they are yet to see him at his absolute best.

“I hope (they will see more of him). That’s what I’m working on, to be more dangerous, more effective.

“The numbers are ok right now for myself, but you will never hear me saying something that I’m satisfied or that it’s ok like this.

“You will never hear that from me, so every day I can do something more or bring something extra, I will go for it.”

It is not the first time Cerny has spoken about his roadmap and his plan for what might come next.

What Cerny previously said about his future at Rangers and Wolfsburg return

On international duty, Cerny was asked about his Rangers future and he provided a similarly coy response.

“I am supposed to return to Wolfsburg after this season, but honestly, I’m only focused on this campaign, Rangers’ success and my own.

“I want to have the best season of my career in terms of goals and assists. And then we’ll see. Of course I have a plan, but there’s no point talking about it yet.”
