Rangers manager Philippe Clement was composed as the Belgian analysed his team’s victory over St Mirren at Ibrox.
Which is more than can be said of Rangers supporters, whose nerves were fraught throughout a tight match against Stephen Robinson’s side.
But after what Philippe Clement described as a ‘deserved win’ for his team, the Ibrox boss has hinted that new arrivals are in the pipeline come the January transfer window.
It comes with Rangers suffering yet more injuries and the club having to rotate out a number of players in the 2-1 win over St Mirren amid a hectic schedule this season.

Philippe Clement hints at new Rangers arrivals
Rangers manager Philippe Clement insists there are ‘no excuses’ for not delivering a win at Ibrox as the club continue to fight on four fronts this season.
But the ex-Club Brugge manager would like some more players in the door who can actually contribute as his squad feels the impact of a competitive season in Glasgow.
Speaking after the match, Clement pointed to the fact that seven new signings started the game v St Mirren and that they need to have these experiences to understand the seriousness of every game.
But the Gers boss insists that new arrivals will boost his options as Rangers look to rebuild after years of stagnating on and off the park.
“There are no excuses at Rangers,” Clement told Sky Sports. “It’s playing every three days and fighting in four competitions.
“That’s why we want to build a bigger squad where everybody is available.
“Today we started with seven players who are new in the building so they need to get these experiences together.
“Playing for Rangers and playing for all these trophies and playing every three days, which several of them are not used to doing.
“It’s important to get this win and for sure it’s a deserved win.
“We had the ball all the time, we had the best chances, so you earn the three points that you deserve.”
John Gilligan confirms Philippe Clement backing
The comments come after interim Rangers chairman John Gilligan told reporters that Philippe Clement would have money to spend in January.
Rangers operated on a shoestring budget on the summer with Clement hinting that off-field issues had a big impact on the transfer market.
But with the Gers just about hobbling to the winter window, Ibrox investor Gilligan insists that there is fresh investment coming into the club to support the Belgian boss.
“There will be [money for Clement to spend in January],” Gilligan said back in September.
“I think with any manager at any football club, if you can sell and make a profit then it helps with the buying.
“It doesn’t depend on it but it certainly adds to it and helps with the whole opportunity of improving.
“We keep talking about the player trading model because ideally we want to be able to bring in players and get them to play properly for the team and do well, but hopefully we sell them on and reinvest.
“We’ll have accounts coming out quite soon and at the AGM, it will become apparent that the financial sustainability is solid.”
