As Championship Watford reportedly eye a move for Rangers icon Alfredo Morelos, it means the fiery Colombian could soon be sharing a changing room with Ryan Porteous.

In a move which would be peak Scottish football, the one-time nemesis of El Bufalo could soon become a teammate amid reports Watford want to sign Alfredo Morelos after his release from Rangers.

The links originate in the Athletic, with the report claiming there is plenty of interest in the 27-year-old as things stand, with options in England, Spain and Saudi Arabia.

But whilst those reports have been mulled over for the last weeks, the links to Watford offer a Scottish footballing reunion that no-one saw coming.

Ryan Porteous’ clashes with Alfredo Morelos were amongst the most box office in the Scottish Premiership during the Colombian’s time at Rangers and the defender’s time at Hibs.

On pitch bust-ups aplenty, one Hibs fan even painted an infamous picture of Ryan Porteous laughing at a decked Alfredo Morelos, before getting the centre-back to sign it!

Back in January 2021, plenty felt Alfredo Morelos had stamped on the defender during a game at Easter Road, whilst the Ibrox star was amongst three players who failed to acknowledge Porteous after a 2-2 draw in 2020.

Both Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Porteous have reputations as fiery characters and there’s probably no-one in the Scottish game who could’ve foreseen the two coming together at Watford.

But whilst Porteous usually barked a lot in the direction of Morelos over the years, it was the Colombian who routinely provided the bite, and usually at the Scotland international’s expense.

Alfie loved a goal against Hibs over his six years in Scotland and in 20 appearances against the Easter Road side netted 10 times and came out victorious on 12 occasions, losing three times.

Alfredo Morelos left Rangers this summer after joining the club in the summer of 2017, the iconic striker playing 269 times for the club and scoring 129 goals.

Ryan Porteous – who was linked to Rangers before the move to Watford – left Hibs back in January this year and has gone on to make a big impression down south and with Scotland.
