Former Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is now attracting interest in England with Watford understood to be interested.

That is according to a report from The Athletic’s Adam Leventhal, who claims that Morelos is attracting interest.

It’s stated that Morelos is one name being considered by Watford after leaving Rangers this summer.

Morelos does have other options though with clubs in Saudi Arabia believed to be keen.

That will naturally make some believe that Steven Gerrard wants to bring Morelos to Al Ettifaq, but that seems unlikely after Moussa Dembele’s move.

Morelos has been linked with Premier League moves in the past but may now have to settle for the Championship with Watford.

The Hornets are looking to mount a promotion push and are now seeking to add major firepower.

Toulouse forward Rhys Healey has already arrived this summer whilst the likes of Vakoun Bayo, Matheus Martins and Ignacio Pussetto are also on the books.

Morelos could give Watford a real goalscoring threat but much will come down to whether they can offer anywhere close to the offers from Saudi Arabia.

Alfredo Morelos facing problems after Rangers exit

Morelos was a superstar for Rangers in his first five seasons, racking up 112 goals in 224 appearances.

The 27-year-old was a sensation after arriving from HJK in 2017 but last season was a difficult one.

Morelos only scored 12 goals last season and never really looked like the threat he was in years gone by.

Morelos may have thrown away his chance of a big move and is now left to consider heading to England’s second tier.

This isn’t what many expected of Morelos during his Rangers days but we’re now heading into August with no deal imminent for the striker.

Morelos hasn’t had a pre-season with a club and could be playing catch-up if he doesn’t land a move soon.

Rangers have completely moved on having signed four new attackers and fans will wonder whether Morelos regrets his disappointing campaign last season as he seeks a new club.
