Once-linked Serie A star gives Rangers signing seal of approval

Rangers fans won’t have seen much of Sam Lammers before he signed from Sampdoria, unless you have an interest in Serie A.

The 26-year old hasn’t be brought in to be the 20-30 goal striker that we need and, even if he is capable, he is primarily going to be tasked with being a creative outlet in the final third.

One individual who knows exactly what Rangers will get from Sam Lammers is forever-linked Lewis Ferguson who faced the Dutchman playing for Bologna last season and has given his verdict to The Sun.

Lewis Ferguson gives Rangers Sam Lammers signing approval

When asked what the reported £3.5m playmaker will bring to the Ibrox outfit, he said:

“I played against Lammers when he was with Sampdoria and he is a really technical player.

“I watched the Newcastle game where he scored his first goal and you could see how good he was.

“He picks up nice areas behind the striker and he is someone who will create chances. He is the type of player who will suit how Rangers want to play, especially when they are trying to break teams down.”

Rangers have already seen glimpses of what Sam Lammers might be capable of in the early pre-season fixtures.

A high work rate helped him score his first goal against Newcastle and he has also shown his ability to beat a man on either flak too.

As Lewis Ferguson says, Rangers having someone with Sam Lammers technical ability who can operate behind and anywhere on the forward line will be huge going into the new season.

Unlike Ryan Kent, he is also more likely to get on the end of supply from teammates too rather than sitting outside the box waiting to regain possession.

With Danilo set to join Cyriel Dessers, Kemar Roofe and Abdallah Sima, the attack is already looking significantly stronger.

A Rangers team with depth in attack has always been the type to win titles, let’s hope Sam Lammers can be key in returning us to the top of Scottish football.
