Rangers feel a left-winger light as the dust begins to settle on the January transfer window.

With this season’s transfer period stretching into February, reports have suggested Rangers made a last-ditch attempt to sign a left-winger on Monday.

But when it became clear that a deal wasn’t going to happen, Rangers informed reporters that Ibrox was closed for business with the club coy on who they wanted to sign.

Since then, it’s been reported that Rangers had an interest in English winger Omari Forson who is currently with Serie A strugglers AC Monza.

Omari Forson ticks a lot of boxes for Rangers

According to Revelo journalist Matteo Moretto, Rangers made a last-ditch attempt to sign Omari Forson before the window slammed shut.

The news certainly suggests that 20-year-old was the mystery left-winger Rangers tried to bring in before Monday’s transfer deadline passed by with a whimper.

But given the kid’s current situation in Italy, it’s a deal we wouldn’t be surprised to see Rangers resurrect come the summer transfer window.

Forson ticks a lot of boxes at Rangers; at 20 the kid has big potential for the future and having been trained at Manchester United, possesses a potentially high resale value.

It’s one to keep an eye on heading into the summer but Rangers may have to open the chequebook given Forson signed four-year deal in Italy last summer.

Rangers target snubbed Erik Ten Hag and Man United

Rangers fans with a keen interest in the English Premier League might remember Omari Forson breaking through at Manchester United.

Forson was given an opportunity at Old Trafford as a teenager under Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag but turned down a contract offer from United before leaving in the summer.

Despite making seven appearances for United last season, Forson signed a four year deal with Monza in the summer but it’s been a challenging season in Italy.

Making just five appearances in Serie A, Monza are staring at relegation and Forson appears to have one eye on the exit door.

It’s not quite worked out and Forson will be determined to live up to a pledge he made to now ex-Man United boss Ten Hag upon leaving Old Trafford.

In an emotional Instagram message, Forson said: “Appreciate all the opportunities you gave me, gonna show the world what you saw in me a long time ago.”

Perhaps Rangers is the place for Omari Forson to make his name and we’ll be keeping one eye on the ex-Manchester United winger at Monza this season.
