Lyall Cameron is a name that Rangers fans are getting more and more accustomed to hearing.
The 22-year-old Dundee midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and appears to tick a lot of boxes when it comes to a switch to Ibrox.
Rangers technical director Nils Koppen insists the club are looking at the top talents in the Scottish Premiership, with Lyall Cameron amongst the division’s best young players.
This weekend Rangers were also sent a reminder about Cameron’s talents, as the Scotland youth international hits a milestone 100 games for Dundee.

Lyall Cameron reaches Dundee milestone
As Lyall Cameron approached his 100th game for Dundee, the young midfielder might’ve wished that it could’ve been like his 99th appearance for the club.
Heading into the clash against Hearts at Tynecastle, Cameron had upstaged fellow young talent Lennon Miller with a double in Dundee’s 4-1 thrashing of Motherwell.
Nonetheless, the 100 game milestone is a big marker for any young player and Cameron reached it over the weekend as a double from the resurgent Lawrence Shankland buried the Dee.
That 2-0 defeat to Hearts might not be the most memorable result for the Dundee support but it will be a game that Cameron can reflect on in the years to come.
In 100 matches for Dundee, Cameron boasts an impressive return of 26 goals and 12 assists ever since making his debut against Raith Rovers in July 2019.
Scotland talent’s Rangers ‘wish’
The progress of Lyall Cameron at Dundee hasn’t been lost on Rangers fans, who’re expecting Nils Koppen to live up to his earlier promise of signing more Scottish players.
The Scottish Premiership is a market the Belgian recruitment guru promises the club will more closely explore in the seasons ahead after missing out on the likes of Lewis Ferguson and Josh Doig.
It comes with talk of a tribunal over Connor Barron being back in the headlines at Ibrox this week.
And whilst we’re sure Rangers won’t be the only Lyall Cameron suitors, given the kid’s progress and relatively low risk transfer this looks a genuine tap-in for Nils Koppen.
Especially since Cameron himself has previously spoken about how much he’d relish the chance to join Rangers.
“I know I’m only 21 but I’m one of the more experienced guys in the team,” Cameron said in September.
“I think once everyone finds their feet and we start understanding each other I think we’ll be OK.
“I’m really confident in my own abilities and I think I could play in a bigger team.
“Obviously when you come to places like Ibrox, you just wish you could get a move to a team like this.
“Obviously it would be huge for your career. So hopefully one day I can go on to do that.”
