Nicolas Raskin’s days at Rangers appear to be numbered, with an Ibrox exit very likely this summer.
Currently, the 25-year-old has not returned for pre-season training as he is vacationing following the World Cup.
His Belgium side went down fighting, losing 2-1 to the eventual finalists, Spain, in the quarter-finals.
Raskin will be aware of the interest being shown in him, and will soon have to make a decision on his future.
Nicolas Raskin has been linked with a Rangers exit…
Nicolas Raskin appears to be on the cusp of Villarreal move
Spanish media outlet Jornada Perfecta have claimed that Raskin is close to leaving Ibrox to join Villarreal.
It has been reported that the 25-year-old will become their first signing of the summer and will join for a £17m fee.
Despite interest from Manchester United, Hull City and Real Betis, the Belgian looks to be heading towards the Yellow Submarine.
Which formation should Derek McInnes use at Rangers?
Given the players he's got so far, there are a number of ways that the team can play…
Rangers have reportedly reached an agreement with Villarreal, and the deal is now down to the midfielder.
He will need to agree on personal terms with them, but it is evident that he is open to leaving Ibrox this summer.
Rangers News reported weeks ago that Raskin is considering his options and wants to leave before the end of the transfer window.
It remains to be seen if he gives Villarreal the green signal or still waits for other clubs to make contact.

Will Rangers accept £17m for Raskin?
Raskin’s stock has risen since the World Cup, with him putting in impressive performances for Belgium.
Nobody would have thought that the Rangers man would be benching Kevin de Bruyne and the team would actually become better.
At 25, he is nearing his peak, and the Light Blues know that his stock is probably never going to be higher than what it is currently.
What changes would you like to see at Ibrox?
The money is there to be spent!
That’s why they may demand more from Villarreal and look for at least £20m for Raskin’s services.
Towards the end of last season, the midfielder’s performances were underwhelming, and fans would have been happy to see the back of him.
However, a lot has now changed, and he’s become an asset that they would either like to keep at the club or be sold for a record fee.
