Serie A champions Napoli have been linked with PSV attacker Johan Bakayoko ahead of the Dutch club’s Champions League playoff with Rangers.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Italian side will launch a bid for the young Belgian should Mexican international winger Hirving Lozano leave this summer.

This comes with 20-year-old Belgian talent Johan Bakayoko attracting much interest around Europe, Fabrizio Romano previously confirming interest from the Premier League.

Johan Bakayoko is widely considered one of PSV Eindhoven’s brightest young talents and the winger has started all five of the club’s matches this season.

Given Bakayoko’s instrumental role in PSV’s bright early season form, Rangers will have one eye on the situation heading into the Champions League playoff clash.

The Gers are set to welcome PSV Eindhoven to Glasgow on Tuesday this week before the return fixture is played in the Netherlands eight days later.

Johan Bakayoko linked to Napoli ahead of Rangers clash

PSV Eindhoven are familiar opponents at this stage for Rangers, the Ibrox side having dumped them from the competition at this point last season.

The Dutch side have already pointed to getting revenge with Rangers boss Michael Beale well aware they’ve spent around £30m reinforcing their Champions League charge.

With the Ibrox boss also pointing out the fact that PSV have extra time off between both legs, it’s clear Rangers need all the help they can get.

Whilst PSV are unlikely to sell Johan Bakayoko to Napoli or anyone else before the Champions League Playoff with Rangers is complete, the links will be of interest to Ibrox fans for a number of reasons.

Firstly, they mark John Bakayoko out as a dangerman in the tie and there will be some attention on how the youngster does at Ibrox this week.

Especially in the potential absence of Eindhoven record-breaker Noa Lang.

Secondly, any exit links always threaten to disrupt a player and the player’s camp and let’s hope reports of Napoli interest do similar here.

Not that Johan Bakayoko is the only PSV player being linked with the exit door in Eindhoven.
