Rangers moved quickly to seal the signing of Mohamed Diomande, the talented midfielder joining from Nordsjaelland for a sizeable fee.

Gers boss Philippe Clement is delighted to add more quality to his squad but there will be a slight delay in seeing the 22-year old at Ibrox as we wait for his work permit.

Taking the number 42 shirt, Rangers latest recruit can’t wait to get going for his new team as Mohamed Diomande reveals why Glasgow was the place to come to.

Rangers news recruit Mohamed Diomande can’t wait to get started

Clement has said that he wants a dynamic and resilient team and the Ivorian certainly ticks the boxes in terms of how he plays the game.

That his profile is exactly what a successful player trading model would expect is another exciting aspect of this transfer.

Speaking to the Rangers media team, Mohamed Diomande is clearly looking forward to getting started:

“I am very excited to join such a historic club and I’ve heard a lot of good things about the team.

“I had a lot of great conversations with the manager who told me about his plans for the team and where I would fit in, which helped convince me that Rangers was right for me.

“I really can’t wait to get started, join up with my teammates, and run out at Ibrox for the very first time in front of the Rangers supporters.”

Where Diomande will play is not quite clear yet.

He can play in almost any of the three midfield roles that Philippe Clement uses but, with John Lundstram the main anchor, one of the other two places is the most likely option.

Similar to Nicolas Raskin and Dujon Sterling, he might be more like Glen Kamara in terms of technical ability, but his work rate and energy will be a huge asset.

Hopefully, we have some friends in the Home Office who can speed things up.
