The Scotsman has named a list of Rangers players who are ‘available’ to leave Ibrox during this transfer window, which includes teenage winger Glenn Middleton.

Over the weekend, Ross Wilson reasserted that the club’s priority across the month was to streamline the squad rather than to recruit [Glasgow Times].

The target is to move on those who are playing little to no role on the pitch with the first team, which should considerably lighten the wage bill without affecting performances.

According to the Scotsman, those surplus to requirements are Andy King, Jamie Murphy, Greg Docherty, Eros Grezda, Glenn Middleton and Matt Polster.

Sky Sports reported on Sunday that Andy King was on his way back to Leicester following the early termination of his loan deal, so that one looks to be done and dusted.

Furthermore, on Monday morning, the Daily Record reported that Eros Grezda had returned to his former club, Osijek.

That leaves four remaining on the priority list for Ibrox departures.

Jamie Murphy

It would be no great surprise if Scotland international Murphy left the club during the window. A serious knee injury ruined his first full season as a Rangers player and although he’s been back fit for some time now, he’s been unable to break into Gerrard’s plans, making just two substitute appearances.

Greg Docherty

Peterborough United director of football, Barry Fry, recently admitted interest in Docherty but claimed the 23-year-old turned him down in favour of a potential move to a Championship club [Peterborough Today]. The ex-Hamilton midfielder is well down the pecking order at Ibrox, failing to make a matchday squad since August.

Glenn Middleton

Pacey winger Middleton played a significant part in the first half of Rangers’ 2018/19 season, but he’s barely been seen since. A failed loan stint at Hibernian appears to have been the final straw as after a summer of recruiting wide players, Gerrard no longer has a spot for him

Matt Polster

US international Polster always looked like a strange signing, and he’s failed to start a single league fixture in just shy of a year with the club. He’s made several matchday squads recently, but despite his versatility, has been unable to oust his competition at full-back or in midfield.
