Fringe Rangers winger Jamie Murphy could soon be set for a move as the January transfer window approaches.
Steven Gerrard has already made it clear that he and Ross Wilson will work to trim down the first-team squad during the winter window, with players currently struggling to make matchday squads likely to be moved on [Scottish Sun].

Unfortunately for Murphy, he’s very much within that bracket.
The 30-year-old has only made two competitive appearances this season, both in the league and both as a substitute, in wins over Hamilton and Ross County.
A combined total of 53 minutes and no appearances since October, suggests that he’s currently low down the pecking order in terms of the wingers available to the manager.
The likes of Ryan Kent, Sheyi Ojo and Brandon Barker have all enjoyed considerably more game time, while Jordan Jones now looks all set to return to first-team action having recovered from a knee injury.
Murphy missed over a year of action due to a serious knee issue of his own, but his continued absence is no longer about that.

The Scotland international has been fully fit for several months now and it’s clear that he’s just not an integral part of the manager’s plans.
He’s valued at £900k by Transfermarkt and while Rangers may not be able to get that given his injury history, the fact that he’s contracted at the club until 2021, suggests he should still be able to command at least some sort of fee.
