Rangers boss Michael Beale has hinted that the Ibrox club might actually be open to selling club captain James Tavernier to Saudi Arabia – if the price is right.
The Ibrox manager was speaking after former Gers boss Steven Gerrard – for whom Beale was an assistant coach – secured a new job with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad.

The move comes after Gerrard was sacked from his role with Aston Villa last November and amid substantial investment into Saudi football from the country’s Public Investment Fund.
Several big names have made the switch to the Middle East this summer and – according to some reports – Steven Gerrard is eyeing a potential move to make James Tavernier the next name to head out to Saudi Arabia.
The Rangers skipper isn’t the only one either, with Ibrox winger Scott Wright also linked with a move to the Middle East.
Michael Beale has been taking about Steven Gerrard’s move to Saudi Arabia and – when asked about those links to James Tavernier – suggested every player at Rangers has their price.
“I wished him well, It’s an exciting journey for him,” said Beale, as quoted by the Times.
“I am delighted to see him and some of the staff I previously worked with back together and working.
“(As for coming in for our players) it depends how much he comes with.”

Michael Beale hints Saudi clubs can pay for James Tavernier
For many Rangers fans, the thought of losing influential captain James Tavernier is almost unthinkable with the Ibrox Hall of Famer etched into the team’s DNA and most would believe a Saudi transfer is a massive no go.
But if the Middle East were to plump up big for the 31-year-old right-back then there would be a decision which would have to be made in the Ibrox board room.
Whilst something tells us Rangers might be willing to negotiate a little easier when it comes to Scott Wright, should Saudi Arabian interest in James Tavernier be legitimate we suspect the Gers might be a little more demanding.
