Michael Beale claimed that Rangers fans were going to see the biggest squad overhaul for some time.

The Gers gaffer wasn’t wrong with seven players in so far and three more tipped to arrive with Antonio Colak heading up a mass exodus of players who are surplus to requirements.

Barry Ferguson, writing for The Daily Record, is excited with the business that Michael Beale has done for Rangers so far and that a message has been sent out ahead of what is going to be a fascinating season.

What has Ferguson said about Michael Beale’s Rangers signings?

The Light Blues legend said after question marks about some of the players who Rangers have been signed so far:

“I expect to see at least another couple of major signings coming through the door in the next couple of weeks.

Jose Cifuentes has been identified to beef up the centre of midfield –and if that gets over the line he’ll be fighting for two places along with Nicolas Raskin, Ryan Jack and John Lundstram.

“I also won’t be surprised if Danilo comes in from Feyenoord. If Antonio Colak goes that would leave Beale picking from nine players – Danilo, Cyriel Dessers, Kemar Roofe, Fashion Sakala, Todd Cantwell, Sam Lammers, Kieran Dowell, Tom Lawrence and Ianis Hagi – for four forward positions.

“Now that really does feel like something worth getting excited about. It’s sending out a message that Rangers mean business again and that Celtic have been far too dominant for far too long.”

Ferguson is right, we only need to look at Todd Cantwell’s arrival in January to see that form is temporary with players who are capable of starting at a higher level and that Michael Beale has a good eye for potential Rangers players.

Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers and Abdallah Sima in particular might not be coming off the back of great seasons but they have all shown consistently in the past that they are good players.

You don’t go for the fees that the three of them went for if you aren’t.

If Rangers manage to add Danilo to an attack that looks greatly improved the, like Fergie, fans would have every right to be excited.

Michael Beale inherited a staleness that had set into Rangers on and off the park, but he is leading a revolution from top to bottom and, hopefully, the early excitement is translated into immediate success.
