Rangers missed out on Tijjani Reijnders and the AC Milan midfielder is now wanted by Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.

Rangers haven’t quite had a transfer miss that bad in recent times, but have seen some targets shine elsewhere.

We have previously mentioned the likes of Djordje Petrovic, Danilho Doekhi, Joey Veerman and Terem Moffi, who were allegedly wanted by Rangers but joined other clubs.

Tijjani Reijnders was told to snub Rangers

Then we come to Tijjani Reijnders, who was a target for Rangers in the summer of 2022.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst had seemingly recognised Reijnders’ potential for AZ Alkmaar and wanted to lure him to Ibrox.

Rangers’ interest only recently became clear as Bert Konterman told NOS that he advised Reijnders to reject a move to Glasgow.

Konterman is a former Rangers man himself but felt that a move to Ibrox wouldn’t have been right for Reijnders at that stage in his development.

Konterman felt that Reijnders was better off spending another year playing for AZ before making a big move – and he has been proven right.

Manchester United now want to sign ex-Rangers target Reijnders

AC Milan pounced to sign Reijnders in a deal worth around £17million and he has been making a big impact.

Praised as a ‘revelation’ for the Netherlands national team, Reijnders is shining for club and country with even loftier interest now arriving.

Calciomercato in Italy now claim that Reijnders has been so impressive in his opening weeks at Milan that both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are interested.

United boss Erik ten Hag may well be aware of Reijnders from his Eredivisie days and may fancy signing him at Old Trafford.

Milan would be in a position to command a huge profit, and that will only make Rangers fans even more sick at missing out on such a talented player – and the riches that could come with his ascent.
