Devastated Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell claims Arsenal have recalled Rangers-tipped Mika Biereth with the intention of sending him out to another club.
Speaking after the Gunners opted to take up a recall option on the loan transfer of the Danish youth international striker, Kettlewell described the situation as a “major disappointment”.
Claiming that only last week did it look like the 20-year-old was set to stay in the Scottish Premiership until the end of the season, Biereth is now on his way back down south.
But that might not be for long with Kettlewell confirming that Mika Biereth was only recalled by Arsenal with the intention of sending him somewhere else.
Mika Biereth returns to Arsenal
Stuart Kettlewell has confirmed that Mika Biereth has been recalled by Arsenal in disappointed soundbites from the Motherwell manager.
Claiming the decision was “unexpected”, the young Dane returns to the Gunners temporarily ahead of a move elsewhere.
“Mika (Biareth) has been recalled,” said Stuart Kettlewell. “Bit of a difficult one for us in the last 24 hours.
“Arsenal have called him back. Major, major disappointment to us of course. They feel that he’s been in a terrific position.
“This was a little bit unexpected. The conversation surrounded that Mika would stay here until the end of the season as close as just last week.
“That he would 100% be staying at Motherwell unless something really big came on the table for Arsenal and something that they thought was an opportunity that they can’t turn down.
“I’m certainly not belittling my football club but there’s a circumstance there that’s completely out of hands that they believe that there’s an opportunity to send him to another club that takes him that step beyond where we are just now.”

Rangers striker hunt continues
Rangers fans will take note of the situation with Mika Biereth given the Arsenal striker has been centre of fan discussion in the last few weeks.
The Gers are actively trying to strengthen their squad ahead of the second half of the season and the young Dane is viewed as a talented option by some.
Whilst there has been no official link between Rangers and Mika Biereth, the situation at Motherwell may well pique the interest of supporters.
But there have been links to the English Championship as well, with English second tier strugglers Sheffield Wednesday mentioned in the last few days.
Biereth made 15 appearances for Motherwell this season, scoring six goals and laying on five assists.
