Rangers loanee Malik Tillman is spotted back at Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga champions’ manager Thomas Tuchel reacts to the sacking of two key directors.
The 20-year-old USA international was spotted being put through his paces in Bayern Munich training gear via the Daily Record, as he recovers from a season-ending injury which saw him return to the German club early.
The Gers are awaiting the outcome of reported £5m interest in Malik Tillman, who impressed during a loan spell at Ibrox, as Rangers hope to exercise the exclusive option-to-buy with Bayern Munich.
Picking up the PFA Scotland’s Young Player of the Year award and the Rangers Young Player of the Year award, the 12 goals scored by the youngster certainly left an impression.
But Rangers fans interested in signing the player may well take note of comments from Thomas Tuchel about needing to “align” the club’s thinking following the sackings of Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn.
“Instead of celebrating, we now have another issue,” said Tuchel.
“My two main contacts are no longer here. We have to align our ideas.”
Will Malik Tillman be given Bayern chance?
Tillman has been clear that he will take his time to decide on a permanent transfer to Rangers, with the loan option said to be up in June.
There are also suggestions that Bayern – who won the Bundesliga in dramatic circumstances last weekend – will reshuffle the squad this summer.
This might boost Tillman’s chances in Germany and dent Rangers’ transfer hopes, and it appears the player himself is focused on getting fit back in Germany.
Rangers are wasting no time with their summer transfer business and the notion the club might let this drag out for the entire window seems fanciful as things stand.
Whatever happens, it was a pleasure to have Tillman for the season – as disappointing as it was for Rangers – and if he does stay at Bayern let’s hope he makes it to the top.
