Rangers are keeping tabs on Liverpool’s Luca Stephenson after his impressive season on loan at Dundee United.
The 22-year-old has played 29 league games and has found the back of the net on five occasions and has provided the same number of assists.
This has been his second consecutive season at Dundee United, but he is not expected to return ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Luca Stephenson decides to leave permanently for regular starting role
According to transfer specialist Pete O’Rourke, Stephenson has decided to leave Liverpool permanently this summer.
That is because he wants to be a regular starter at his next club and does not see that happening with the Reds.
Despite his injury, there is understood to be a decent amount of interest in the right-back’s services.
Stephenson, who is also capable of playing in central midfield, has multiple clubs waiting in the wings to offer him a way out of Anfield.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, O’Rourke said: “He’s somebody that Rangers did look at and were keeping tabs on, Luca Stephenson, due to his form on loan at Dundee United.
“He’s had his season ended by a new injury at Dundee United, but up until then, he was having a fine season for the Tannadice club.
“Long-term, Stephenson is ready to leave Liverpool on a permanent basis.
“He wants to find a permanent home and nail down a place in the starting XI on a regular basis as well, and he doesn’t think he will get that at Liverpool.
“So there are a number of clubs on alert and ready to offer him a move away from Anfield.”

If he goes, who would be a good replacement for him?
What has Jim Goodwin said about Stephenson amid Rangers links
Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin himself has admitted that he does not expect Stephenson to return.
In his view, the 22-year-old will be out of the club’s budget, given the fact that a permanent move is on the cards.
Liverpool know about the interest in him and will be aware of how he has played in Scotland for the last two seasons.
Before he returned for his second season on loan, the Reds tied him up to a long-term deal as they are aware of what they can make from his sale.
Discussing his future, Stephenson said: “He has been on loan for a few successive seasons – his time at Dundee United is the longest he’s stayed anywhere for a considerable period – and I’d expect him to want that stability and chance to kick on.
“Luca is under contract at Liverpool and, given how well he’s done here, I think that would be a considerable transfer fee.”
